About Shorewood, WI
Shorewood, Wisconsin was first incorporated in 1900 as the Village of East Milwaukee, with a population of about 300. In 1917 it was renamed the Village of Shorewood to give the community its own identity apart from the city of Milwaukee. In the early 1900s Shorewood grew into a streetcar suburb, with public transit making it easy for residents to commute downtown for work.
